At the peak of the Victorian whiskey boom, Mitchells originated the system of labelling casks with a daub of paint that identified the age of the whiskey inside and the names of these iconic whiskeys have survived to today. This simple act of marking barrels with spots of coloured paint would not only signify their age potential, but would become the namesake for this coveted whiskey, bonded and bottled by the Mitchells – a 7th generation family business.
